Manicures your favourite celebrities are flaunting in 2021
2020 was a year for everyone to work on their at-home manicure skills. From press-on nail kits to dip powder nails, many of us were able to follow or create manicure trends of our own. Celebrities and influencers around the world experimented with new shades, textures, and patterns. We predict this appetite for creative flair will continue right through the remainder of 2021.
We’ve seen nail artists take inspiration from some of the most unlikely of places. But isn’t that the point? If we want to truly express ourselves we should feel free to take inspiration from anything we desire. Who says you can’t let your nails be a canvas for creation?
Being creative with your nails isn’t always about finding new shades. It’s about how you use the ones you already have. Find a unique way to apply colours and you’ll have a new option for expressing yourself. Take one design concept and you’ll be amazed by how many different ways you can change it up for your own unique look.
To help inspire you, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite celebrity nail trends gracing our feeds right now. Check them out today and see what inspires your next home manicure session.
Thin French manicure
As early 2000s style trends become fun again, who are we to argue a French manicure is a bad idea? It’s a minimal style option that also harkens way back to the fifties and sixties when they first became popular. A great advantage of this style is that the white stripes help create the illusion of longer nails.
Fast forward to now and even the French manicure has a style update as one of the celebrity nail trends of 2021. The latest iteration of this style has seen celebrities and influencers rocking an extra thin version. This variation works great on shorter length nails. A great option if you’re putting in the time to grow out your nails before you try out something more ambitious.
Milky ombre
The name is pretty self-explanatory but here goes. Milky ombre nails are unique thanks to their slightly opaque appearance. If you asked for your nails to look like a glass of skim milk were poured over the top of them, this is what they would look like. It’s a simple yet satisfying visual effect that celebrities have been gushing over for months now.
Take a quick look through Pinterest (or a few hours) and you’ll find plenty of gorgeous variations on milky ombre. You may find versions that feature light pinks, oranges or blues to suit the current season or an ensemble. Another new variant we couldn’t resist talking about is side-to-side ombre nails. This twist on ombre nails sees the milky colours gradually change from side-to-side instead of top to bottom.
Gradient colours
One of the easiest celebrity nail trends of 2021 to emulate is gradient colours. This mesmerising look is achieved by picking fives shades of a similar colour to add to your nails. You can try arranging the colours from light to dark or you can mix up the order any way you like.
Adjust the colours by the ensemble your wearing or use the current season for your muse. Aim for warmer shades in spring and summer and try cooler shades for winter. An easy way to achieve this look is to try colours from one of our dip powder collections.
Plant life
Is it really any surprise that plants would bloom into manicure designs? Our Instagram feeds are already full of them thanks to the indoor plant trend. Designers also love to go wild for nature with plant prints adorning shirts and dresses.
Looking to make your nails more seasonal? Choose a plant variety that matches the season you’re in. Think cactuses for Summer or vibrant florals for spring. Check out our Green Chartreuse, Maldives or Apple Mint dipping powder shades for inspiration.
Fashion icons
Some logos speak louder than words. Especially when it comes to fashion labels. Wearing Fendi or Versace makes a statement with your clothes. So why not do the same with your nails? Matching your nails with the rest of your ensembles becomes so much easier. Your Jimmy Choo nails could match your Jimmy Choo pumps and clutch.
Each fashion label exudes its own personality. Pick a designer label that matches your state of mind, mood or mantra. If someone asks why you chose a Gucci logo for your nails just say what Kim Kardashian would say. “It’s ICONIC”.
